Recent News - September 2011
Village Centre Extension Our new larger room in the Village Centre is well under way and looks to be finished by the end of November. Along with the extension, we have been successful in gaining funding to upgrade our energy supplies for the Village centre. We will now be replacing the Oil heating for the centre with an Air Source Heat Pump and look to reduce our electricity costs by implementing Photovoltaic Panels. A big Thank You to People's Postcode Trust and their Sustainable Energy Project for helping us gain the Air Source Heat Pump. We will keep you posted on our progress.
Sensory Garden
We are half way to achieving the neccessary funding to create our new Sensory Garden in 2012. A very big Thank you to the Bank of Scotland Foundation for kindly donating £7,000.
The creation of this garden will not only improve the experience of those staying with us in the Hostel but also the local community attending the adjoining Village Centre.
We still have someway to go but this is a fantastic start.
Hostel Refurbishment
New plans are being drawn for submission for the our proposal for a full Hostel refurbishment. As part of the refurbishment we will be bringing in the use of Environmentally Friendly alternative energy supplies such as photovoltaic Panels and Air Source Heat Pumps, replacing our Oil fire heating. Fingers crossed we are successful in November in achieving our funding and our renovations can commence next autumn.
